M.I. Rap artist, Jude Abaga a.k.a M.I, is definitely a guy to watch out for in future. He is not popular now, but chances are he will soon be. His performance at the Future awards held at the Muson centre last Sunday, gave credence to his place as one of the best... M.I who has a video CD of his first single out, titled Crowd Mentality , got the audience drooling for more with the rendition of two freestyle raps laced with witty as well as educative blabs “My music is about change and being yourself.” he says On how the inspiration for the songs came, he revealed “the work of a musician is endless, you keep working at it, sometimes the inspiration flows, sometimes you work on an idea for a very long time".

Click the play button to watch video. | Getting inspiration from God and being able to work at it by going to the studio to force it out, while hoping that in the process something brand new comes in, is his trick. “Both songs I did, I worked on, in a space of about thirty minutes each. So it was just a voice of inspiration that came and I though it was nice, but believe me, most of the time its really hard work trying to force songs out.”
For the graduate of business and economics major from the Calvin college, Michigan, his diversion to music can only be propelled by his undying love for arts. “I love it so much and I wont lie, its been putting food on my table somewhat” he says “but even more than that, even to the point where it wouldn’t, I’ll still do music because I love it so much.”
So will it be music forever? “Oh Yes entertainment” he informs, “ I use the word entertainment loosely because I like content and with content the word music may not fit completely but, I really do love music. I love production, writing, poetry, anything about expression, is what I will do”
M.I began his music move way back as a kid, playing in a band but started writing hip hop songs in 2003. He hooked up with a record label called Chocolate City in Abuja where he was signed on record deal. M.I also owns a studio in Jos and a production company currently working on some artist.
Currently based in Abuja, ‘the short black guy’ as he describes himself is however set to finally move to Lagos, the centre of entertainment. Watch out for MI. Quote this article on your site | Views: 3320 | Print | E-mail
