Red carpet , clicking cameras, flash lights, shades of green and more, were features present at the Muson center last Sunday , when glamorously dressed young men and women turned out for the nation’s biggest Awards for young people. The event was the third edition of The Future Awards, an award designed to celebrate the boldest, brightest and best youths of our time.
The Shell hall of the Muson centre venue of the event was transformed with our national colours, by one of the nation’s best, Simply Reene, with an impressive stage courtesy of Total Consult.
Anchoring the event were two of Nigeria’s exports to Hollywood, Actor Raz Adoti and TV Presenter and now film director, Kemi Adetiba, with, former most beautiful girl in Nigeria and 1st runner up at the Celebrity takes 2 dance show, Omowunmi Akinnifesi as a third anchor, who did not do badly as a first timer.

Africa, who also went with the evening’s style code : a hint of green, decked in a black satin top and green Ankara skirt. While delivering her speech, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, describes herself as a friend of the youths. And to her, “Africa will only remain when it realizes that the future remains with the youths.”
There was a ingenious rendition of the hit track by former girl group, KUSH, Let’s Live Together, by Jodie and two others from West Africa Idols. And a powerful rendition of the National anthem Special, which has become the Awards trademark, by Ego Essence and Segun Obe.
It was question and answer time, with the interactive session, which centers on questions and comments bothering on youths and the society in general. A session which was handled by Nigeria’s brightest TV personalities Cool FM’s Gbemi Olateru and Nigezie’s Ill.
Performers at this year’s event included Roof Top MCs, M.I, who thrilled the audience with his freestyle raps, Sasha, last year’s hit dance performers, Explicit and Morachi.
And the Winners? Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie won the Young Person of the Year award. The audience didn't seem to have a problem with that, as they chanted her name in response to "and the winner is......". The Musician of the Year award went to D'Banj, who held the audience spellbound by his presence. Other winner were, Ali Nuhu (Actor of the Year), Oghenekaro Okporierie (Artist of the Year), Omowunmi Agagu (Best Use of Goodwill), Dele Odufuye (Best use of Technology), Toyosi Akerele (Best Use of Advocacy), Bukola Adubi (Entrepreneur of the Year), ID Cabassa (Music Producer of the Year), Abdulkareem Baba Aminu (Journalist of the Year), Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi (On-Air Personality of the Year), Blast Magazine (Magazine of the Year).
