The immediate past governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu said on Sunday that the coming World Yoruba Festival of Arts and Culture (WOFEYAC) would reposition Nigeria among the comity of Nations and create a different perception about the country in the eyes of peoples of the world.
He was speaking in Lagos on why he accepted the position of the National Ambassador for the festival. He said participants and tourists who would arrive from all continents would be surprised at what they find in Nigeria, since it would go against negative information they earlier heard.
Asiwaju Tinubu says, “When the Publisher of Alaroye, Alao Adedayo and the WOFEYAC team approached me to be the National Ambassador for this festival, I gladly accepted because I saw that it is a programme that, if institutionalized, will come with huge benefits; not only to the Yoruba people but Nigeria as a whole, and the world in general”.
The former governor said the programme for the festival would be packaged in a way that it would continue to draw international participants year after year.
The World Yoruba Festival of Arts and Culture is being organized by the Alaroye Group of Newspapers to promote the artistic and cultural excellence of the Yoruba people, enhance national and regional integration, and promote global peace.
