Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has attributed the successes recorded by his administration so far to the special grace of God, pointing out that he would continue to appreciate God’s sustenance in his life.

The Governor stated this at a special New Year Prayer Day organised by the Remo Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) held at the Governor’s Asoludero Court in Sagamu on Sunday.

Otunba Daniel according to a statement signed by his Press Officer, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya was joined at the special thanksgiving Service by over 200 members of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), traditional rulers, Eminent personalities and top government functionaries.

The Governor who said it was necessary to give thanks to God for all the wonderful things that has happened in the State, added that “I really appreciate God’s sustenance in all the things we do, God has continued to navigate us in all ramifications and if we give thanks, we will continue to multiply”.

He expressed optimism that the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the State would be sustained in the New Year, pledging more dividends of democracy to the people.

Delivering his sermon at the occasion, Rt. Rev. Adewale Ademilua of the Methodist Church of Remo Diocese described year 2007 as a year of perfection in Ogun State, calling on leaders at all levels of government to move closer to God in prayer and constant meditation on Holy Scriptures to achieve more progress.

He told the Governor to remain focused inspite of  undeserved criticisms, pointing out that, “to be a leader is not to be nice but to be right, it is not possible to please everybody, but Mr. Governor go ahead and continue to do good as you have always been doing”.

The clergy man also admonished political office holders to live in the fear of God as a prerequisite for successful governance.

“People should also contribute to the development of the State and not rely on government for everything by doing this, God will be pleased with his people”, he added.

Highlight of the service was a special Ministration by the choir from Daystar Christian Center, Lagos while special prayers were offered for the Governor and his family as well as the State and the Country in general.
