MTN Nigeria Communications through its family and friends brand, Xtra Connect, has rolled out the drums to celebrate with its numerous subscribers in Jos, Plateau State and Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory with a Carnival show tagged MTN: Going Places With “A Heart Full of Thanks” this season and given its esteemed customers and the less privileged something to smile about in the yuletide.


This the telecommunications giant has done by presenting gift items to the ECWA Kings Kid Orphanage Home (Gidan Bege) in Algadama, Jos, Plateau State and the FSP Children Home, Jos. After which customers were treated to a moment of fun and laughter by seasoned comedian and music acts during the MTN Xtraconnect family carnival.

Receiving items that included bags of rice, beverages and some other items at the Orphanage home, the manager, Reverend Haruna Tukura showered accolades on MTN for the kind gesture, saying MTN has a heart for the less privileged. Rev Tukura revealed that this is the second time the company is extending a hand of love to the children, thanking the telecommunication giant for earlier donating more computer sets to them.

On her part, Brand Manager, MTN Xtraconnect, Mrs Saidat Mohammed said the visit is MTN’s way of saying happy Christmas to the less privileged and its customers.

Mrs Mohammed stressed that MTN is ready to serve its customers better, saying customers should expect better services from the company next year.

At Crest Hotel, venue of the Xtra connect Christmas and Sallah carnival, it was a day the families that attended will forever relish with fond memories as they were treated to rib cracking jokes by Basket Mouth and musical performances by R ‘n’ rooner, Style – Plus. At the show, various gifts items like generating sets, bicycles, Dvd players, handsets and other gift items were given out to customers by MTN in appreciation of their patronage.

In a related development, the MTN XtraConnect Christmas and Sallah carnival train berthed in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory with a courtesy visit to the Esu of Karu, Dr. Pamyam Luka Baba who welcomed the MTN officials and the crew to his palace. He remarked that he is the oldest user of MTN. He further said that if he is going out with a handset, the line therein is MTN.

“No organization has can survive without telecommunication and MTN has been playing this role very well. MTN has improved tremendously and coverage is good I stay connected everywhere I go, through MTN” the Esu said.

After the courtesy visit, the crew left for the Abuja Children’s Home where several items were also presented to the inmates of the home through the manager who received the items from the MTN crew.

At the Millennium Park venue of the Xtra Connect Christmas and Sallah carnival was a beehive of activities especially for the children who had various games to play and were adequately rewarded with gifts.

The anchor of the show, A Y rendered the entire atmosphere charged with the latest jokes coming from his stable.

MTN has always striven to give its customers an all inclusive experiences, and according to the MTN Xtra Connect Segment Manager, Saidat Lawal-Mohammed, “the yuletide presents the right moment to fete our customers and appreciate their patronage” she explained that MTN believes in values of the family which is why the Xtra Connect brand is championing the initiative of bringing family and friends together.

She noted that the Xtra Connect brand proposition is centered on the customers desire to be part of such thriving and engaging community where he/she knows that he is not alone. This, she explained, seeks to strengthen the value of the community which is reflected throughout the country at the Yuletide season.
