Ravissant Mode Set to Unveil Collection

Just a year ago, Princess Latifat Lamolliatte, launched her fashion outfit Ravissant Mode in the country. Now the fashion entrepreneur is poised to make a bold fashion statement in Nigeria and beyond, with the opening of a second outlet in Victoria Island and the grand launch of her latest collections for the year 2007/2008.

The event which will hold at the Eko Hotel and Suites Victoria Island, on the 9th of December 20007, is expected to showcase the best and most creative designs of casual, evening, occasional wears and more, all made with Nigerian fabrics mixed and match with other fabrics.

“I want people to know that we have very good fabrics in Nigeria, its not about appreciating what comes from other countries, but for us to see what we make here and appreciate them too. I want our expertriates, foreigners and Africans in other neighboring countries to appreciate the fact that we have good fabrics in Nigeria.” On the quality of the fabrics we have in the market and the chances of its durability she says, “People complain that the fabrics we have in the market run. This so, because most of the fabrics in the markets are what they call ‘mass production’ and that is why its cheap, because if you go to the market and get a fabric that is very cheap, it will definitely run. But if you buy one that is not so cheap and good, then you will get good value for your money. What I do is, create my designs and give them to experts to print and they come out real good and can last for years without running off .”

On what we expect to see at the show, she reveals “there will be exclusive collections of boubous, evening gowns, wedding gowns and children’s wears, as we will also have children on the runway.” The dinner fashion show, will also feature cultural dances, comedy and other side attractions in a classy African setting.
