Last Sunday's public performance by the celebrities at the Celebrity Takes 2, dance contest was no doubt an improvement on the previous outings. Viewers of the ongoing television reality show who looked forward to seeing one of the 10 celebrities leave the reality dance contest, were disappointed. But that could not be said of the contestants who must have heaved a sigh of relief as eviction day was moved forward.
It was also the first time the three judges scored openly the contestants, a situation that increased the tension on the show. Normoloss and his dance instructor swung into action immediately the show hosts Ben and Yinka introduced the duo. The vigour with which they began their act soon began to wane, midway into their performance. Normoloss put up an average performance however. As the celebrity came on stage in turns, movie producer Kunle Afolayan did not fail to surprise viewers. Alongside his dance instructor, the movie producer chose to perform a drama sketch. He would have been awarded some high marks if the issue was dance drama, but sadly it was not it. When it came to the actual dancing, an energy sapping bata dance, Afolayan could not as impress as he did in the drama presentation. But he did showed some little improvement compared to when he did hip hop dance with his instructor Jennifer. Designer Zizi Cardow who went through the motion of dancing in a robotic manner the last public show, was perhaps the surprise of last Sunday's show. The effective communication between Cardow and Ice, her dance instructor is commendable. The celebrated designer was alive on Sunday and she was a delight to watch. Dayo Laidi, one of the judges could not help but commend Tara's efforts. She is definitely putting herself in contention for the prize at stake. Tara and her companion Edet, both who did not impress last week were a delight to watch on Sunday. Their timing was better and the otherwise stiff-legged Tara, is beginning to loosen up. Sound Sultan was not saying the whole truth when he told one of the judges that he was not a dancer before he entered into the contest. Fluidity was the main attraction of the singer and his partner Lillian's movement. Sound Sultan was as adventurous as Lillian on the expansive stage. Fuji superstar Pasuma Wonder's costume of a colonial teacher gave him an edge. With his knee length shorts, short broad tie and white socks, Pasuma just blew the crowd away. He however decided to toe the line of Kunle Afolayan by performing a drama sketch. His dance act though brief was highly creative. Mr. Nigeria Brian was also very creative in his approach. Dressed like Chinese monks, Brian alongside his instructor Lovette engaged in what could be aptly described as a dance combat. It was a very creative presentation. Acting sensation Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde chose to go the Zulu way. Alongside Buddy, her instructor, the duo dressed aptly in Zulu costumes with the right make-up, Omotola dance vigorously. Unlike her last public presentation, Omotola did not exert much energy anyway. Funlola and Omowunmi, the other contestants also put up good shows, but it was a big relief when compere Ben announced that there won't be any elimination on last Sunday. However, viewers were asked to send in SMS stating the celebrities they want to remain on the Skye Bank's Celebrity Takes 2. The reality show is expected to run till December. Celebrity Takes 2, an initiative of Spirit of David that has entered its fifth week, is being sponsored by Skye Bank Plc. Quote this article on your site | Print | E-mail
