The advancement of man in modern life has given rise to the need for expression, to air opinions, to be heard etc through the media as pertains to events, situations and circumstances affecting him and the environment where he dwells. The Urhobo Voice for about ten (10) years now and still running, has proven this fact. We believe the establishment of the Urhobo Voice was intended to report grass root events covering the Urhobo areas in Delta State. However, within the stipulated people and still existing, the items / news portrayed by the newspaper covers all views, opinions and events of the people in the Niger Delta region.
One aspect of the newspaper that is commendable is its objectivity in terms of news covered across the region. Equal credence and attention are given to all ethnic groups within the State. Despite its coverage, the reporters and editors are not widely known by all, and this has given no room for lobbying or ceding different interest groups. This has made the paper to report stories not related to the Urhobos, and as far as we know, no case has been brought against the new paper. The paper is widely read in Eket, Port-Harcourt, etc, probably because of its detailed nature of reporting news items concerning the Niger Delta region, just like Vanguard newspaper. The name Urhobo Voice from a distant might deceive one from understanding the nature of its content, but a close analysis will give one different view about the paper. The Urhobo Voice has truly proven its worth. It is on this note we congratulate the pioneers of this tabloid. Continue with your objective path and more success.
