The red carpet event brought together 25 models, 17 female and eight male who strutted their stuff on the runway to the delight of a cross section of guests drawn from all walks of life from politics to business as well as the diplomatic community.

Notable designers both local and international treated guests to a vibrant collection of designs that mirror both the African and American societies. Among them were Kofi Ansah from Ghana, Chloe Angus from Canada, Gilles Toure from Ivory Coast, Remay and Nigeria’s own queen of glamour couture, Data Okorodudu who used the event to also present her new collection from the
stable of JD7.

Highlight of the evening was award presentation to some great women not just for their great sense of style but for their selfless contribution to the plight of the less privileged in the society. The roll call include, senator Florence Ita Giwa, founder of BEARS Foundation, a foundation that uses reconstructive surgery to help the less privileged members of the society, Miss Modupe Ozolua, Mrs Stella Okolie and former president of FADAN, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija and Corine Hazoume as best international supporting correspondent.

The event was heavily spiced with musical performances by artists like Eva, Zdon who rocked the house, jazz crooner, Yinka Davis and Brico Le Magnifique who added french spice to the entertainment. There was also a raffle draw where prizes like MTN Blackberry device, car tracking device, Virgin Nigeria tickets to Johannesburg etc were won by guests. As the evening wore on, drinks and food flowed freely, compere, Basorge, gave the best of comedy while the judges made up of former Miss Nigeria, Binta Sukai, Vicky Cursham, South African based model, Andiswa Manyia, Monique Pore and Hollywood stylist, Ken Shapkin took notes.

Winner of the maiden edition of the Runway Dreams project 2006, 20 year old Uduak Ekpeyong who is currently working and living in South Africa, also graced the occasion. The willowy model sporting a clean skin walked the runway escorted by Ken Shapkin.

Her presence on the catwalk was quite encouraging for the contestants. At the end of an evening of high fashion and great music, the team of Judges announced the winners, Uzodimma Ugwuanyi  and Patrick Obiora Ikwueme.
