IN an effort to improve on its money transfer services to customers, Afribank Nigeria Plc,one of 5he country’s largest commercial banks have signed an MOU with moneygram international.
Speaking with newsmen at the venue of the signing ceremony in Lagos the bank’s managing director Mr. Sebastian Adigwe said, “We are particularly happy because the partnership between Afribank and Moneygram will offer us the opportunity to give people valued services”. He said that with the bank’s branches increasing from 250 to 300 nationwide, the partnership would afford the bank’s customers easy access to money transfer transactions. According to Adigwe, “all of Afribank’s six special subsidiaries including ANP International Finance in Dublin, Ireland have also been sensitized to ensure that Afribank gives the best Moneygram services. “We are very optimistic that the huge and growing clientele base and strong brand of Afribank will facilitate mass patronage for Afribank and Moneygram money transfers. “The bank’s over 47 years experience in quality banking services, ethical conduct, collections and sound facilities will inspire confidence in Money gram’s recipients,” he said. Adigwe said that Afribank’s understanding of money transfer operations had given the bank a competitive advantage, adding: “we believe that international money transfer business is huge enough for operators who can distinguish themselves through service delivery and value addition. Apart from paying recipients in foreign currency, the bank aims at adding value to business delivery chain by creating investment options for remitters or receivers." Also commenting on the development the country director of Money gram,Mrs Joke Giwa, said that Moneygram was convinced that Afribank was a worthy financial institution in Nigeria that could partner with Moneygram. “We expect that this partnership will result in a fruitful, enduring relationship and a rewarding experience for our customers”, she said. Money gram, an American-based payment and financial services institution has offered financial services since the 1940s, when a small money order company, Travelers Express, opened shop in Minneapolis. Travelers has since changed its name to Moneygram International. Quote this article on your site | Print | E-mail
