As part of his contribution to foster creativity in the fashion design industry in Nigeria, London based Nigerian designer,  Ade Bakare, last Sunday May 20th, put together the maiden edition of  Young Designers Creative Competition.  The event was a platform for 10 young designers to model their designs before a select Lagos audience made up of fashionistas, government functionaries and a host of Lagos socialites.

Held at the Civic center Lagos, the competition featured, works of Seven  young designers; Chukwuemeka Ikiru, Chizom, Vincent Alade, Ndogesit Jackson, Irene Odunde and Emeka Nwanchukwu and  Grace Effiong, all strutting their stuff in the runway.

At the end of the competition, young and talented Grace Effiong, who obviously displayed creativity above her other contestants, emerged winner, she was closely followed by Ejiro Amos Tafiri and Yemi Olaleye who came second and third respectively.

By her victory, Grace not only got cash prize but, will also participate at seminars and workshops set up by the Fate Foundation.

The event also marked the designer’s 15 years anniversary in the industry.  Ade treated his select audience made up of the first Lady of Lagos State Mrs Oluremi Tinubu to a beautiful fashion show from his latest collection.
