The Black Satellites of Ghana this afternoon qualified for the final of the ongoing U-20 FIFA World Cup in Egypt with a thrilling 3-2 win over surprise package Hungary in the first semi-final match at the Cairo International Stadium.
It was the Africans that began fast off the blocks with Dominic Adiyiah putting Ghana ahead after just 10 minutes after a good bit of persistence from captain Dede Ayew before Adiyiah adding a second and his eighth of the tournament midway through the first half as Ghana looked to run away with the encounter, going into the break 2-0 up.
But they were playing a Hungary side that bounced back from an opening day 4-0 defeat to reach the semis and with 17 minutes left, Marko Futacs brought the Eastern Europeans back into the game and set up a dramatic final quarter of the match.
Ghana's two goal cushion was restored eight minutes later through Abeiku Quansah but Adam Balajti's goal three minutes later ensured the Black Satellites had to hold off the Hungarians in the final seven minutes to set up a mouth watering clash with Brazil in the final.
The junior Samba Boys in the second semi-final edged out a spirited Costa Rica by a lone goal scored by Kardec with just over 20 minutes left to play in the match to set up a clash with Ghana on Friday with both countries unbeaten in their run to the final.
Ghana will be aiming to become the first ever African nation to lift the World Cup trophy at U-20 level; Nigeria's Flying Eagles was previously closest to winning the trophy in 2005, losing 2-1 to Argentina courtesy of two Lionel Messi penalties.
