Sokleva & Soulsnatcher: Rooftop MCs How do you bang out street wise hits and still remain clean? That's not very easy in today's Naija music industry, where all you hear are songs about getting drunk and chasing women with big bums. Enter Rooftop MCs.
At first glance, they won't strike you as gospel rappers. For those of you who don't know, the group is made up of Soulsnatcha and Sokleva. Their first album, Shock Therapy, shocked some of us out of a lingering draught of good music. Thank God for that....
The single from their second album (The Minority Report) blew it all up. Lagimo was, as far as I'm concerned, the most played song on Nigerian radio last year. Lovers of hip hop, like me, will love these guys. How come? They call themselves a contemporary gospel group. Well, the bridge between the Nigerian Hip Hop and Gospel, I guess, is the Rooftop. So now they're back with a new single, For My Life - Featuring tha Suspect, from their forthcoming album The Drunken Masters.
