Williams' sisters Venus and Serena this evening set up yet another Grand Slam final match, this time at the Wimbledon Open, courtesy of impressive wins over Russian opponents at the semi-final of the grass court Slam.
Serena was first out against Elena Dementieva and needed just under three hours to see off the Russian in three epic sets of 6-7, 7-5, 8-6 while older sister Venus needed just under an hour to dispatch world number one Dinara Safina 6-1, 6-0.
Venus will be out for a sixth Wimbledon title and ninth Grand Slam title while Serena will be aiming for a third Wimbledon crown and a 14th Grand Slam title but a Wimbledon win will not help Serena regain the number one spot from Safina who ironically has no Grand Slam to her name yet.
Over at the men's section, British hope for a maiden Wimbledon title since 1936 and world number three Andy Murray will face Andy Roddick in the semi-final on Friday while second seed Roger Federer faces German veteran Tommy Haas who beat 4th seed Novak Djokovic in four sets.
