The Super Eagles of Nigeria has dropped four places on the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola world rankings released for the month of July with the Shuiabu Amodu led team also dropping two placed on the continent.
Previously ranked 30th in the world, the Super Eagles now occupy 34th despite defeating the French national team in a friendly match as well as holding Tunisia to a goalless draw away from home in a World Cup qualifying match.
The Super Eagles is closely followed in 35th by arch-rivals the Black Stars of Ghana that have won all three qualifying matches so far while Cameroun now plays second fiddle to Cote D'Ivoire that is now the best ranked African team in the world.
The Ivorians are also the only African side in the world's top 20 best footballing countries with Cameroun coming second at 29th on the world rankings while Gabon surprisingly occupies third spot in Africa following impressive wins away at Morocco and at home to Togo in their qualifying matches.
Globally, Brazil has regained the number one spot on the rankings which it last held in August 2007 following its victory at the recently concluded FIFA Confederations Cup at South Africa.
European champions Spain now occupies second spot after only winning bronze at South Africa with the Dutch national team, Germany and Argentina completing the top five football nations on the rankings.
