Shooting Stars Set Up Enyimba Clash in Federation Cup Print E-mail

Newly promoted Shooting Stars of Ibadan has qualified for the quarterfinal of the Federation Cup; formerly the Challenge Cup and FA Cup, after finishing top of Group C with seven points.

The Adewole Warriors sealed top spot and a quarterfinal date with two-time African champions Enyimba cortesy of a hard-fought 2-1 win over first division Taraba United at the Uyo centre.

El Kanemi Warriors finished second in that group, two points behind Shooting Stars thanks to a 2-0 win over Ila FC which finished bottom of Group C with just one point from three games.

Enyimba earned qualification from a keenly contested Group D on four points, two points behind Lobi Stars of Makurdi that won the group after defeating the Aba Elephants by a lone goal in their final group match.

Dolphins fell by agonisingly despite finishing with an identical record of four points and zero goal difference with Enyimba after drawing goalless with bottom side Rangers International, Enyimba however had defeated the Port-Harcourt club 3-2 in their second group match.

Neighbours Sharks however qualified top of Group B with nine maximum points sealed in a 2-1 win over Akwa United that finished bottom of the group with no points behind Premier League champions Bayelsa United with six points and Bussdor with three points.

Sharks will now face Nasarawa United that finished second in Group A with four points, three points behind Ocean Boys that earned a quarterfinal match-up against its local rivals Bayelsa United with a 2-1 win over BCC Lions.

The Lions finished bottom of Group A with one point while Julius Berger, which will be most likely disbanded as a football club, crashed out despite not losing any of its grop matches; drawing them all however.

Shooting Stars - Enyimba (Uyo)
Lobi Stars - El Kanemi (Jalingo)
