The Super Eagles of Nigeria this evening at the Rades Stadium in Tunis came out with a goalless draw in one of several World and African Cup of Nations qualifier across the continent.
l The result leaves Tunisia still on top of Group Two with seven points from three games ahead of Nigeria that has five points and has not conceded a goal so far.
Tunisia expectedly had more of the possession but despite that, failed to create any clearcut chance that troubled Vincent Enyeama in the Nigerian goal.
As a result, Nigeria slowly crept back into the game with the best chance of the opening half falling to Victor Nsofor whose left foot shot was saved on the second attempt by the Egyptian keeper.
The second half saw the Super Eagles continue to play second in possession to the home side but have more of the threat on goal with Taye Taiwo's long range effort sailing just wide.
The introduction of Nwankwo Kanu and Michael Enemaro saw Nigeria gain more possession and the latter; who plays for Tunisian league winners Esperance, should have scored late on for Nigeria as his tap off Osaze Odemwingie's cross in went wide of goal with the keeper left scrambling.
In the Group Two match played earlier today, the Harambee Stars of Kenya went off the bottom with a 2-1 defeat of Mozambique who now occupy last place with one point, two behind Kenya.
At Ouagadougou, Cote D'Ivoire held on for a thrilling 3-2 victory over Burkina Faso to maintain its perfect record so far with nine points from three qualifiers, three points clear of the Burkinabes in Group Five.
Ghana also maintained its perfect record so far and edged one win closer to the 2010 World Cup with a 2-0 win at Sudan courtesy of a Michael Amoah brace early in each half.
Algeria meanwhile now leads Group Three with seven points thanks to a crucial 2-0 win away at nearest rivals Zambia who remain second with four points. Egypt bring up the rear with one point but have a game in hand now due to its engagement at the Confederations Cup
