Qualifiers for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and Cup of Nations continues in Africa with crucial third matches across the continent with the clash of Eagles at the Rades Stadium in Tunis the peak of the encounters.
Nigeria's Super Eagles travel to face 2004 African champions Tunisia at the intimidating Rades Stadium needing victory to put her World Cup ambition firmly on track though a draw would also be welcomed by the Nigerians.
The Carthage Eagles of Tunisia know victory on Saturday night would all but end the hopes of the Super Eagles reaching the World Cup in South Africa, putting Tunisia one win away from South Africa. Tunisia currently lead Group B with six points from two games with Nigeria in second place on four points while Mozambique with one point face the Harambee Stars of Kenya that have no points yet at the bottom of the group. With Egypt's match against Rwanda postponed due to the Pharaohs involvement at the FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, Algeria and Zambia have a great chance to go six points clear of the African champions when both sides meet in the top if the table clash. The Chipolopolo of Zambia have four points in second place, behind the Desert Warriors of Algeria on goal difference while Egypt occupy last place in the group with one point after falling 3-1 at Algeria a fortnight ago. Other games this weekend see Morocco and Togo face-off in Group A with the chance to close up on group leaders Gabon whose match at home to Cameroun has been postponed to September with the Gabonese still mourning the death of President Omar Bongo. Ghana's Black Stars and the Elephants of Cote D'Ivoire, two countries with perfect records along with Tunisia, could also put a leg in South Africa 2010 with wins away at Sudan in Group D and Burkina Faso in Group E with the Burkinabes also having a perfect record.
