M.I shines at Nigeria Entertainment Awards 09

Good times seem not to be ending soon for Nigeria's current rap hit, Jude Abaga popularly known as M.I as he, over the past weekend, scooped two awards in this year's edition of the Nigeria ENtertainment Awards held at the Howard University's Cramton Auditorium in Washington DC.

M.I.

This is coming on the heels of his recent success at the Hip Hop World Awards where he also won two awards - the Best Rap Album for 'Talk About It' and the Hip Hop world revelation award.

The artiste who is currently on tour in North America came tops in the Best New Act of the Year category beating Durella, YQ, J Martins and Bigiano in the process. He also edged Mode 9, Naeto C, Ikechukwu and Sauce Kid to the Best Rapper award.

Also, D'Banj's disappointment at the Hip Hop World Awards was alleviated as he was announced winner of the Best Album of the year category which also had M.I in addition to Naeto C, Tu Face and Dare Art-Alade as nominees.

J Martins' 'Good or Bad' was named the hottest single of the year at the expense of Eldee's 'Big Boy', Durella's 'Shayo', Wande Coal's 'Bumper to Bumper' and YQ's 'E fi mile'.

The Midnight Crew emerged tops in the Gospel Artist of the year category leaving Niki Laoye, Rooftop MC's, Lara George and Yinka Ayefele in its wake whilst Eldee was named Music Producer of the year at the expense of other notables like ID Cabasa, Cobhams and Don
Jazzy.

Dare Art-Alade's 'Not the Girl' emerged Best Music Video of the year beating Naeto C's 'Kini Bid Deal', D'Banj's 'Suddenly', J Martins' 'Good or Bad' and Eldee's 'Bosi Gbangba' while Funke Akindele added to her awards by winning the Best Actress Category.

The event, hosted by Basorge Tariah Jr. witnessed performances by Apexx, Bigiano, G Exploits, J Martins, Midnight Crew, Toba Gold amongst others.
