How come I'm not allowed to create a Paypal account from Nigeria Print E-mail

Each time I try to make an order online and I hit a paypal payment option, my heart sinks. I do not have a paypal account and I cannot create one. Am I missing something? Maybe I'm not doing it right...

It's totally unacceptable. You can create a paypal account from Niger and Benin republic. Why not from Nigeria? The option is not even available. The potentials of trade form Nigeria outweighs any security or fraud concerns you might have. Yeah, I'm talking to Paypal.

Speaking of which; I cannot shop on amazon.com with my Nigerian issued credit card. Unbelievable! The guys at amazon are afraid of credit card fraud. What is wrong with you guys. Do you have any idea how many Nigerians are trying to buy books online? Why don't you try and find out.

Our banks are not helping. They bring this credit solutions that don't really solve the problems.

Please do not tell me you guys are afraid of fraud. Pleeeease! The highest credit cards fraud cases don't come from Nigeria. Check the statistics and think about it.

How come I'm not allowed to create a Pa
d funny thing is that it is 2009 and still pay pal and other international shopping sites can't still tell how far the Nigerian individual has change. i can't even pay for simple service such as mastering an audio track!!! my heart doesn't sink when i see the pay pal option on most sites, i generally get angry and pissed at their stupidity, ignorance and straight out stereotypical image they have of the Nigerian people. The streets of London and New York are more dangerous crime wise compared to the streets of Lagos.

PayPal is fueling piracy
After being frustrated by sites that allow only paypal as thier payment systems most Nigerians turn to illegal file sharing sites to get the stuff they need - coz it is virtually the the only option left.
I wonder when paypal and eBay would come to thier senses, coz banning a country fuels fruad not ban it.

What is bad is bad
Because there is crime somewhere is a justification for crime to thrive in Nigeria? This is incredible. Anything that is bad must be roundly condemned as bad.

Paypal Issues
I was trying to make a transaction online and since a Nigerian credit card wasn't an option, I tried to create a paypal account, but to my utmost dismay Nigeria wasn't even on the list of countries that could create accounts, what nonsense, how come Nigeria's left out, are we not considered a country on the map?, granted we have been associated with a lot of internet frauds but notwithstanding, what about those who truly are interested in genuine transactions?, are we all to be punished for a crime committed by only an unsignificant number of our population? Nigeria has one of the most vibrant markets in the world at large, cutting us of the 'global market' is actually a loss to the international community, besides lots of people claim to be Nigerians once caught in any cyber crime, plus internet fraud is not a crime that occurs only in Nigeria but also in most developed countries of the world, if you want to help change the problems in the global community it's not going to be achieved through cutting off the links to some parts of the world.
