ZAMBIA Under-20 national soccer team coach George Lwandamina says he will miss the services of suspended dependable defender Nyambe Mulenga who will miss the second round match against Nigeria in Ottawa on Thursday.
The coach admitted that Mulenga was a dependable player who was not easy to replace in defence. "Nyambe is a good player who is instrumental in the team in all the games that have been played so far," he said. Nyambe was sent off against Uruguay in the 40th minute on Saturday for a second bookable offence. Lwandamina said Nyambe had been instrumental in the two matches that he had featured in so far at the tournament. The trainer, however, noted he had faith in William Njovu, who would stand in for Mulenga. Lwandamina said he was confident Njovu would be good cover despite looking uncomfortable in the same position during Zambia's opening match against Jordan on July 1. "William (Njovu) can do a better job. I do not have an alternative but just to use other players. Others can fill the gap but of course, they cannot play like Nyambe," he said. On Fwayo Tembo, who did not feature in the Uruguay encounter, Lwandamina said the player was not injured but had been sidelined because of the game plan that he deployed against the South American nation. “Fwayo is a good player but I use players according to the way we approach the game, he (Fwayo) can not play all the time," he said.
