Chykay The Nigerian Music Scene has always been a subject of controversies. Different views are held on different aspects of the industry by different schools of thought. Nevertheless, all schools of thought including individuals agree on just one point...it is that talents abound in Nigerian Music both home and abroad. Hence, it is my ultimate pleasure to introduce to you one of Nigeria's emerging music stars...Chykay.
What's special about this new kid I here you ask? Well, nothing much except that he, even as a seeming rookie, is already competing with the big names in Nigerian music and that isn't just mere fallacy. For a couple of days, 'Smile', one of Chykay's effort featuring Falz, a british-based rapper, was recognized on a website (sturvs.com) as the 'hottest sturvs'. The website also contains works of established names like Tu Face, D'banj, M.I, Wande Cole amongst others. That's not all. 'I Just Wanna' and 'Mo Fe Soro' are another two of his works that have been appealling to music fans that visit sturvs.com hence their having secured highest votes on the website. Let's talk about the guy himself. Chykay was born on the 16th of June, 1985 to Nigerian Funk Legend Harry Mosco Agada and Edugie Lawal-Osula as Chike Nosa Agade, his real names. You now know where he could have got his skills from. Unlike most of our upcoming artistes, Chykay has got some very sound education. He attended primary schools such as Beehive and Grange, he had secondary education in CTC, Trinity College and Igbinedion Educational Centre. Chykay is also an alumnus of Brooke House College and the University of Bedfordshire, Luton, UK where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration/Law and also has a diploma in Human Resource Management. Now, can you beat that? His talent was discovered while he was a teenager in Trinity College when he was asked to give a 'special number' and he did it so well that all he got were compliments and applause which encouraged him to start work on his music which initially involved writing songs for people and working alongside aspiring artistes such as Beazy, L (T.J. Stattz), Playbach, Falz, 2Slick, Uzzy amongst others. One thing shouldn't be in doubt by now, it is that this guy is really one to look out for in Nigerian music, so that you don't get surprised.
