Sola Sobowale Just as I was smarting from the discovery that Nkem Owoh, better known as Osuofia, was really not dead, I got another shocker. It started like a joke and before one could say jack, it was gaining ground that Sola Sobowale, popularly called Toyin Tomato was dead. It was said that she was arrested and beheaded in Saudi Arabia for committing drug related offences.
Contrary to the rumours however, Toyin Tomato is still alive safe and sound. In fact, she has been in Nigeria for a couple of weeks to shoot her new movie. Granting an interview to a local newspaper, Sobowale said she was in London when she heard the rumour about her death and she had to 'tap herself on the lap' to make sure she was alive. She went on to claim that she had never been to Saudi Arabia. "I don't even know the airline that goes to Saudi Arabia, neither have I travelled to the city. I don't even know where to board the plane going there," She said. Sobowale became a household name in the country for her role as Toyin Tomato in one of the stories told in Wale Adenuga Productions' Super Story. One is left to wonder how these rumours originate and from where they do. It might be appropriate to repeat Ejike Asiegbu's urge to the public not to cicrculate wicked and malicious rumours about icons of Nollywood.
