The Finalists
The past weekend was quite an eventful one for students of the MTN Project Fame West Africa Academy as two of the five probationers from last week were evicted while the remaining seven students were all placed on probation following a series of tremendous original performances.

After surviving about five consecutive weeks on probation in the MTN Project Fame West Africa Academy, Dorcas have finally been shown the door of the academy. She however didn't go home alone as she was evicted alongside Caroline .

This followed an extra-ordinary probation show held last week which saw five of the academy's students placed on probation. Caroline, Kojo, Inyanya, Bisola and Dorcas were the five students who had to bear one week of extra hardwork.

As usual, the eviction show saw the five probationers take to the stage to perform the songs they had initially fumbled with once again in order to, maybe, increase their chances of remaining in the academy.

The show began with the highlights of the previous week's events starting from the probation show to the eviction party for Benedicta and finally to the mid week's Meet and Greet at the Silverbird Galleria.

Then Inyanya opened the floor with a cute rendition of Lionel Richie's 'Hello' which was followed by Caroline's performance. Kojo took her turn to do 'Unchanged Melody' which was followed by Bisola's rendition of Celine Dion's 'Immortality'. Dorcas wrapped the segment up with Toni Braxton's 'Unbreak my Heart'. Of course, the judges and the faculty were passing their comments in between those performances...it seemed everybody had improved from last week's performances...the magic power of probation that is, I guess.

To the inevitable eviction segment, Inyanya was the first to be freed from the shackles of probation after getting the votes of the viewers of the show. The faculty thought Kojo most-deserved their vote so they gave it to him. Finally, the four other students in the academy were to decide who stays amongst Caroline, Dorcas and Bisola. At the end of voting, Caroline and Bisola both polled two votes automatically putting Dorcas out of the contest. As it obtains on the show, Inyanya had the ultimate votes having himself gotten the backing of the viewers...he voted for Bisola.

The greatest shock of the week was to be unravelled in the probation show that followed. After highlight's from J.T. Tailor's earlier surprise visit to the academy, the students, for the first time, performed their own original songs and it didn't in any way make the show less glamorous...shows how well the academy is doing, doesn't it?

Praise opened proceedings on the night with 'A Woman's Need', Annette continued from where he stopped with a soulful 'At Last' which was followed by Kojo's 'So Strong'. Bisola did a powerful performance of 'Life' and was followed by Inyanya's Club/ RnB mix titled 'Love Truly'. Nii was Nigerian in his performance of 'Mo Ni Fe e' while Onyemaechi rounded it all up with 'Let me be the one'.

Despite the judges' seemingly spontaenous flow of compliments for a job well done by the students, they still chose to place all the students on probation. Maybe they didn't want to bother themselves with deciding which was better and chose to push the decision time forward.

Anyways, the rules have been slightly changed. This time around, with all seven students on probation, the two students with the lowest amount of votes will be evicted at the end of the week. Meaning...if you have a favourite student, you had better start voting or you might just watch him/her walk out of the academy in the next eviction show.

wrong decision
the judges should have made the decision, rather than throwin it to the public. the public are only going to vote based on whom they like not on individual performances. i hope the judges will decide the final winners
