Bayelsa United and Heartland turned out sterling performances over the weekend in the Globacom Premier League as both took over leadership of the league with highly impressive away wins.

Bayelsa lead the league on 18 points ahead of Heartland of Owerri on goal difference after securing a 2-0 win over Enyimba behind closed doors in Ilorin as the Peoples' Elephants continue to adapt to life in its new home.

Heartland however got the result of the weekend with a 3-0 bashing of Nasarawa United in Lafia to claim second place ahead of newly promoted Kaduna United that continued its impressive start to the season with a 1-1 draw in Abakaliki against Rangers of Enugu.

The top three are followed on a competitive Premier League table by Sharks, Warri Wolves, Zamfara United and Rangers all on 17 points with Sharks winning 1-0 at home to Niger Tornadoes, Wolves picking a goalless draw from Jos against JUTH and Zamfara losing 1-0 in its trip to Uyo against Akwa United.

At the bottom end of the table, FC Abuja finally moved off the bottom as it gained its first win of the 10 week old league with a 2-1 victory over visiting Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, putting Abuja on seven points, one ahead of JUTH which is now bottom with six.

In other results, champions Kano Pillars kept in touch with the pacesetters after playing a 1-1 with Ocean Boys in Brass while Gombe United was held to a goalless draw at home by Sunshine Stars of Akure.
