The Super Falcons of Nigeria was this evening held to a 1-1 draw by arch-rivals Ghana in the opening Group B match played in Baka at the ongoing African Women's Championship taking place in Equitorial Guinea.
Florence Okoe had given the Black Queens a first half lead and Ghana held on to that lead till the 87th minute when Ifeanyi Chiejine slipped through the Ghanaian defence to salvage a point for the Super Falcons.
Host Equitorial Guinea yesterday caused a bit of a shock by beating Cameroun 1-0 in the opening match of the Championships in Group A on Saturday, Cameroun being the losing finalists of the 2004 edition.
Nigeria will next play Tunisia as the Super Falcons chase a record sixth African title.
