All is now set for the much publicized fashion show with a difference; ‘Stars on the Runway’. Come next Saturday the 7th of July 2007, all roads will lead to the Lagoon Venue on Victoria Island Lagos, for the event that is aimed at setting the new benchmark in creativity, style and production. It’s a day when Celebrities from the world of fashion, entertainment and sports become models for a day for a good cause.
In attendance will be over 60 Celebrities from the world of entertainment, sports, business and government, plus top fashion magazines from around the world.
Confirmed celebrities for the event include Film maker Tunde Kelani, Singer Yinka Davies, TV personality Dayo Adeneye (D-One), King of Fuji Music K1 the Ultimate, Arsenal Footballer Emmanuel Adebayor, actress Genevieve Nnaji, Pop star 2Face Idibia, Actors Chinedu & Osita (Aki & Pawpaw), Businesswoman Princess Abah Folawiyo, Ovation Publisher Dele Momodu, Music mogul Kenny Ogungbe, Screen legends Olu and Joke Jacobs, Comedian Julius Agwu, Nigerian football legend Segun Odegbami and many more.
A host of foreign celebrities will be contacted and invited to model clothes made by top Nigerian and African designers based in Nigeria, UK and the USA such as International designer Adebayo Jones, Modela, Nobel Afrik, Lanre Da-Silva Ajayi, Zizi Ethnic Clothing, Gureje New York, Okunoren Twins, KSLD, Moshood the African Spirit, Vitorio Couture, Ejiro Amos Tafiri and more.
A special highlight of Stars On The Runway will be a special dress modeled by New York based Nigerian Supermodel Nnenna Agba, who recently starred in the hit TV series America's Next Top Model by Tyra Banks.
This will be Texas born Nnenna's first visit to Nigeria since she visited when she was 12 years old. ‘Stars on the Runway’ is the brainchild of Ronke Apampa, it is produced by R70 World UK. and Supported by Motorola Nigeria, Prowse and Hargood and Virgin Nigeria, Media Partners: NTA, Silverbird TV, Rhyhtm 93.7FM and The Punch Newspaper.
There will be musical performances and rib cracking jokes from top Nigerian comedians, amongst other side attractions. According to the organizers, proceeds from the show will be used to help build an orphanage in Lagos for children affected with HIV/AIDS.
