Adding yet another feather to his hat, award winning Nigerian Superstar 9ice (born Abolore Akande) has been nominated for two categories in the upcoming 2008 MTV Africa Music Awards. The two categories include Best Hip Hop Artist and Best New Act.

9ice whose hit song Gongo Aso has earned him international recognition including a performance for Mandela at his 46664 Birthday Concert is Nigeria’s foremost musical culture exponent. Tagged the hitmaker, 9ice’s use of proverbial lyrics, coupled with his unique style and brilliant vocal ability made him an instant fan favorite.

9ice is up against other acts like HHP (South Africa), Professor Jay (Tanzania), Lil Wayne (USA), The Game (USA) for the Best Hip Hop Artist Category and Kwaw Kese (Ghana), Wahu (Kenya), Naeto C (Nigeria), Da L.E.S. (South Africa) for the Best New Act Category.

The winners of the MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain will be unveiled at The Velodrome, Abuja, on Saturday, 22 November 2008. To Vote for 9ice in the upcoming MAMA awards please visit www.mama.mtvbase.com
