Nigeria Static, Cameroun Edge Close to World Top 10 |

Despite defeating South Africa in Port Elizabeth last month in a qualifying match, Nigeria's Super Eagles remain 27th on the world rankings though is now fourth in Africa according to the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking released this afternoon.
Nigeria gained 27 points in the month under review to take her total points to 818, two points behind Scotland that fell 10 places to 26th and 21 points behind archrivals Ghana that fell five places to 25th on the World Ranking.
Cameroun continues to the lead on the African continent after moving up two places to 12th ahead of Euro 2008 semi-finalists Turkey in 13th and England in 14th place.
The Indomitable Lions is followed on the African continent by Egypt that is 22nd on the World Ranking after dropping one place from 21st while Cote D'Ivoire is fifth in Africa and 29th in the world after dropping six places.
European champions Spain continue to reign on top while world champions Italy and three time world champions Germany stay second and third respectively on the rankings.
Brazil moved back into the top five, up two places to fourth ahead of the Netherlands in fifth and Croatia in sixth place with the rest of the top 10 made of Argentina, Czech Republic, Russia that rose three places to ninth and Portugal down one place to 10th.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be released November 12 2008 with the Super Eagles scheduled to play Sierra Leone in her final first round qualifying match for the 2010 World Cup and African Cup of Nations before an exdected trip to Bogota for a friendly international with Colombia.
