Following weeks of globetrotting for a new owner to buy Newcastle United, Mike Ashley's search may have attracted the interest of a consortium of Nigerian businessmen led by Chris Nathaniel.

With a price tag of £400m to buy the club, it is reported that the consortium is searching for about £100m to meet that price and gain ownership of the club where Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins plies his trade.

Nathaniel is the man behind the visit of Rio Ferdinand to Lagos in June and Governor Babatunde Fashola's return visit to Manchester United to see Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

He runs the NVA Management company, a United Kingdom based company that manages the profiles of some notable names in fashion, television, music and football including Rio Ferdinand of Manchester United, Obagoal, and Ryan Babel of Liverpool.

NVA Management was founded by Nathaniel in 2005 to service high profile personalities and he has been able to successfully negotiate a seven-figure book deal for Chelsea captain John Terry. He also runs 2NV Records and Publishing as well as 2NV Marketing and Promotions and Next Generation TV and Films.

Nathaniel's company also is involved in the football foundation by Africa's most decorated footballer Nwankwo Kanu of Portsmouth and he was named in the Football Black List compiled by the BBC and Kick It Out; a list of the most influential black men in English football that also includes his client Ferdinand, the defender's younger Les, Liverpool legend John Barnes, Ian Wright and Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince.
