Nigeria today won her third silver medal at the ongoing Beijing Paralympics through Grace Anozie in the women's +82.5kg Powerlifting event with a lift of 165kg to finish behind China's Ruifang Li.
However, both Li and Anozie lifted 165kg in their second attempts and failed to lift 167.5 respectively in their third attempts but the Chinese woman nicked gold due to the 160kg she lifted in her first attempt, against the 157.5 Anozie lifted in her first attempt.
Nigeria came close to another medal from the -82.5kg women's category but Kike Ogunbamowo's heaviest lift of 127.5kg was 2.5kg short of Mexico's Perla Barcenas who won bronze.
Nigeria now have a total of three gold, three silver and one bronze medal to place 29th on the overall medals table which is led by host China with 63 gold, 54 silver and 42 bronze medals.
