Chelsea showed its class at the City Stadium and came out winners in the billioaires clash with a 3-1 win over Manchester City, reclaiming top spot in the process from Liverpool that beat Manchester United earlier.
It however was City that took the lead, dramatically through Robinho whose free kick in the 13th minute deflected off John Obi Mikel past Chelsea keeper Petr Cech but parity was restored three minutes later through Ricardo Carvalho.
Frank Lampard then put the Blues from West London in front with a well taken strike just before the half hour before Nicholas Anelka completed a deserved win for the visitors in the 70th minute, spoiling the debut of Robinho and home debut for Shawn Wright Phillips who only joined from Chelsea.
The only tarnish to a good day for the side bankrolled by Roman Abramovic's billions came when skipper John Terry was shown a red card for a foul on City's other Brazilian import Jo.
Chelsea now lead the Premier League with 10 points ahead of Liverpool on goal difference while Arsenal now occupies third with nine points with Hull City in fourth following an impressive 2-1 away win at Newcastle.
Defending champions Manchester United however is placed 13th, six points behind the leading pack though the Red Devils have a game in hand against Fulham; might just be insignificant at the moment with next week's clash against Chelsea.
