A Honourary life Vice President of the Confederation of African Football and first member from Nigeria in the Executive Committee of CAF, Etubom Oyo Orok Oyo has passed on at the age of 86.

Oyo, who died in his hometown in Calabar Cross River State on Wednesday, was also the longest serving Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Association, now known as the Nigeria Football Federation.

Described rightly as the Father of football in Nigeria, Etubom Oyo was a member of CAF for between 1974 and 1998 when he retired at the CAF Congress in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Etubom Oyo was born on August 27, 1922 and along with his Honorary Life Vice President position, he also received the FIFA Order of Merit Award in Gold.
