Nigeria claimed her fourth medal in the ongoing Paralympic Games in Beijing through Adekunle Adesoji, who came second in the men's 100m T12 final behind the United States' Josiah Jamison.
The second place for Adesoji comes as a shock as the partially blind athlete was overwhelming favourite to win the event being the current world and paralympic record holder.
Adesoji ran a time of 10.95 seconds to edge China's Yuqing Yang who came in third with a time of 10.96 seconds. Jamison won the race in a time of 10.89 seconds, a season's best for the American.
The silver from Adesoji meanwhile lifts Nigeria up to 17th on the overall medals table while South Africa continues to lead the African contingent with seven gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
Tunisia now havefour gold, three silver and one bronze medal while Algeria have three gold and four bronze medals to come in one place behind Nigeria. Egypt, Kenya and Angola complete the list of African nations on the medals table now led by China with 24 gold medals.
