President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua said Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja that with the full implementation of the Green-Tree Accord on the Bakassi Peninsula last month, Nigeria and Cameroon have set a glowing example of the peaceful resolution of differences worthy of emulation by other nations of the world.

The President spoke at an audience with the Cameroonian Vice Prime Minister, Mr. Amadou Ali who was in Abuja as a Special Envoy of President Paul Biya.

“The peaceful resolution of the Bakassi Peninsula crisis between Nigeria and Cameroon has set an example to the world on good neighbourliness and how nations can resolve their differences without recourse to war and bloodletting,” he said.

President Yar’Adua also assured the envoy that in the spirit of the continuing cordial relations between both countries, the Federal Government will give favourable consideration to Cameroon’s request for Nigeria’s support for her candidature in upcoming elections to a vacant United Nations position.
