National Seminar on Economic Crime Begins Sept 16 |

The 7th in the series of the annual National Seminar on Economic Crime comes up on Tuesday 16th September 2008 at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s Training and Research Institute (TRI), Karu, Abuja.
According to a statement by EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity Femi Babafemi, the seminar with the theme, “Corruption as a Development Challenge,” is expected to be declared open by His Excellency, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, with a keynote address to be delivered by His Excellency, Joachim Alberto Chissano, former President of Republic of Mozambique. The seminar as part of its objectives, is expected to synthesize ideas that would help promote the inculcation of probity, transparency, and accountability in the management of public trust; motivate participants to experience the power of effective collaboration geared towards creating an enabling environment for investment and healthy business competition for sustainable development; deepen the expertise of Law Enforcement Authorities in investigating and prosecuting economic crime among others. It is targeted at chief executives, managing directors, chairmen, director-generals, government advisors, legislators, captains of industries, policy formulators, entrepreneurs, investigators, legal advisors, senior and middle- level decision makers in public and private organizations. The statement further stated that the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mrs. Farida Waziri (AIG (RTD) will be the host would while other dignitaries expected at the occasion, include; Rt. Hon Dimeji Bankole, Speaker, House of Representative and His Excellency, Mr Babatunde Fashola, SAN, Executive Governor of Lagos State. Registration for the seminar is by cheques or bank draft into an oceanic bank Account No 1491301004995 payable to “The National Seminar on Economic Crime” and may be done at the secretariat of the National Seminar on Economic Crime at the EFCC headquarters, No. 5 Fomella Street,off Ademola Ademola Crescent,(Opp Rock view Hotel) Wuse11,Abuja. Other points of registration include the seminar venue at the EFCC Training and Research Institute, Karu, Abuja. The statement also added that a registration desk would be opened on Sunday 14 September 2008 at the lobby of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja at 10 .00 a.m.
