Nigeria Win First Paralympic Gold Medals |

Nigeria earlier today at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games won her first gold medal from the Powerlifting event of the Games through 41 year old Ruel Ishaku.
Competing in the -48kg men's category, Ishaku eased through the first round with four clean lifts before repeating the feat in the final and create a new World Record lift of 169kg.
Ishaku's gold was followed by another in the women's Shot Put F57/58 through Eucharia Iyiazi to further lift Team Nigeria up the medal; the country currently occupies 21st place on the overall medals table.
Also today, Chinenye Obiora gained her first win in the round robin stage of the Class 4 Table Tennis event following a 3-1 success over Claire Robertson of Great Britain.
South Africa meanwhile now leads the African contingent on medals table with a total of five gold and one bronze medal ahead of Algeria with three gold and three bronze medals.
Tunisia comes in with two gold and two silver medals while Angola and Egypt won their first medals today, a silver for Angola and two bronze medals for Egypt. Kenya also won her first medals; a silver and bronze apiece, today.
On the overall medals table, China and Great Britain are now heads on for top spot on the with both countries having 13 gold medals while China have 16 silver medals against Britain's 11.
