Let's say your friend invites you to his 'really beautiful house'. He offers to drive you there himself and and you hop in... Let's say, again, that you fall asleep during the journey and you don't wake up until your friend drives into his compund and park the car. You wake up, right inside the compound, and you're like, "WOW! this is a palace". You spend a couple of hours and it's time to go. You decide to walk and tour the street. You step outside the gate and, "what tha #$%@!"
For minutes you wonder why your friend decided to build his swimming pool on the street. There's water everywhere. You almost go blind from filth. And, "What is that smell?" The next compound is a really large pond. This is where the mosquitoes in the South American jungles come from!
MyNaijaNews We spend unbelievable amounts of money building really beautiful houses. We pay tenement rates. At least civil servants pay taxes. What is the function of the Local Government councils? How is possible that streets like this one exist for years and years...... and nobody notices. Of course, you only get to see "this kain tin" in selected urban areas, where the rent is not for the faint hearted.
Harphazard drainage systems buit by 'Landlords' only drain water from one compound. Some don't bother building drains at all. "Isn't the government suposed to that?" And here's the really sad news: these streets will remain like this for a really long time.
