MTN Xtraspecial treats customers to Golf

MTN Nigeria the only telecommunications operator to successfully exploit segmented marketing in wooing customers, has again proven its leadership in providing tailor made services by partnering with Global Golf Limited in organising the World Golfers Championship.

The MTN Xtraspecial WGC came to a beautiful climax as Nigeria would be led to the world finals of the World Golfers Championship by five top amateur golfers led by Bawa Umar who emerged winner at the national finals of the tournament last weekend in Abuja. MTN Xtraconnect is the brand specially packaged for the High valued customers.

Speaking at the event, Biodun Odejayi, Snr. Manager, Consumer Marketing, MTN hailed the golfers turn out and the brilliance of the competition which provides the platform for strong team representation at the International finals billed for Orlando Florida in the United States of America. "It has been successful at the way. If you track the emergence of the 2008 finalists you would agree with me that the tournament this year has given a wider range of players the chance to pick a place" he said.

Over 600 players had teed-off from the first regional qualifiers that was staged in Port Harcourt Golf Club in Rivers State. According to Bawa Umar, the challenge of leading the national team to the world finals is a different ball game, but with solid plans, it will be tackled. "I know it is a huge task to be the best player in my category but I look forward to keep my form and build up the confidence for the International finals"

Abuja based Sam Galadima made a dramatic return to the Nigeria team, making him the second player to earn a back-to back ticket to represent Nigeria at the MTN Xtraspecial World Clubbers Tour after Remi Olukoya, Ardo Samba, Bello Abdulkadir and Paul Kyari are other top players from each of the other categories that have made up the five slots to fly Nigeria's flag later at Orlando, Florida in November.
