Felabrations to begin with art competition

This year's celebration of Fela's birthday is billed to commence with an art competition in an event that will take place in Abuja on the 9th of October, 2008.

The birthday celebration would be Fela's seventieth and the 11th since his death in August 1997...he was born on 15th of October, 1938 in Abeokuta, Ogun state

The art contest, organisers say, is aimed at creating a conducive environment for "creative art students in Nigerian universities to compete and gain self realisation". I know you've been waiting for this, the winner would get Five Hundred Thousand Naira cash and a lucrative contract with an undisclosed 'renowned' art gallery in the country.
