Ogbeche's Valladolid Lose in Primera Liga Opener

Estadio Olimpico Montjuic was the venue for the opening match of the 2008/09 season of the Primera Liga with Bartholomew Ogbeche and Real Valladolid visiting RCD Espanyol.

However, it was just one goal from Luis Garcia that separated both sides in a keenly contested match which Espanyol won, though the Catalan's keeper Kameni had much say in the final score saving with his fingertip from the last kick to ensure all three points for Espanyol.

In the late match on Saturday, Valencia put up a sterling display in the 3-0 bashing of Real Mallorca with goals from Euro 2008 top scorer David Villa, Mata and winger Vicente.

Sunday night will see the league favourites Barcelona and Real Madrid kick off their campaign with the Catalans away at newly promoted Numancia while Real Madrid face a daunting trip to the Riazor where it has not won Deportivo la Coruna in 17 years.

Other matches will see Champions League debutantes Atletico Madrid host Malaga making a return to the top flight and Villarreal travel to Osasuna. Ik Uche's Getafe take on newly promoted Gijon while his brother Kalu and his Almeria club are guests of Athletic Bilbao.
