Paul Play Son of late musical icon and one of Nigeria's current most popular musical acts, Paul Play Dairo has revealed his plans to release two musical albums before the end of this current year, 2008. Two...why two? Yeah, the first is an highlife album titled 'Club Life' whilst the other is an R&B album which, according to him, is yet to be named.
Highlife music...hmm, it's because highlife music is the only music that can be called 'Nigerian'. Going by antecedents, it cuts across all ethnicity posed by the nigerian entity. "The only music that all nigerians play is highlife. To mention a few of music leaders who have worked and have released albums over the years from different parts of Nigeria, We have people like Bala Miller from the North, Osita Osadebe from the East, Victor Olaiya, I.K Dairo, Oliver de Coque and a host of them." He said that 'Club Life' is aimed at taking highlife music into the clubs...hmm, we shall wait to see how possible that could be. He also wants to use the album to relate with the older generation who, apparently, seem to be more familiar with that genre of music. On the other hand though, the R&B album is for people like us...I mean young and vibrant people who would just be too glad to relate with any song whatsoever as long as it makes for pleasurable hearing. I guess they both are worth looking forward to. And just in case you're still wondering...Paul Play is the son of late highlife music legend, I.K Dairo. As a matter of fact, Paul hit limelight with a remake of one of his father's evergreen tracks, 'Mosorire'. He has, however, ruled out the question of originality with his subsequent efforts including 'Angel of my life' which has endeared him to many.
