World and African U-17 champions, Nigeria will on Saturday at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt begin its campaign towards the African U-17 Championships against neighbours Benin Republic.
In other neighbouring encounters in the qualifiers, Cote D'Ivoire will welcome Senegal to Abidjan while Guinea Bissau will make the short trip to Guinea just as South Africa hosts fellow Southerners Malawi.
The Black Starlets of Ghana welcome Libya to Accra while Gambia and Sierra Leone clash in Banjul. The game between Zambia and Namibia however has been postponed following the recent death of Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa.
The Golden Eaglests, led by the late Yemi Tella, won both the African and World U-17 Championships with then captain Haruna Lukman now a fringe member of the Super Eagles. The current crop of players are being managed by Alphonsus Dike.
