The man behind the sudden rise to fame of the Gongo Aso crooner popularly known as I.D Cabasa was yesterday named the Most Influential Youth in the first edition of Facet Magazine Awards 2008.

Held at the Afe Babalola Auditorium, University of Lagos, the award ceremony saw Cabasa compete with the likes of Denrele Edun of Sound City, seasoned media practitioner, Linda Ikeji, Frank Papas and Lexy Mojo in the Most Influential Youth Category.

Other awardees at the event include DJ Scooty J who won the Best Young DJ award beating Radio Continental's DJ Switch and DJ Walex in the process. Koffi also shrugged off contest from AMBo 3's Bhaira and Zdon to pick the most versatile youth award.

The event saw numerous upcoming artistes take their turn on the podium to churn out varying degrees of performances ranging from the 'not too good' to the 'pretty much interesting'.

However, the highlight of the show was the performance of Mimi T...the guy behind the 'Olojuede' stuff. He pretty much impressed the audience with his stage presence while performing 'Olojuede' and Temporary and guess what...he was well applauded.

Yeah...a little about Facet...It's a "socio-campus publication established with the aim of promoting socio-cultural and academic values while entertaining and orientating the students and addressing cogent issues that are of great significance to learning".

The magazine was set-up and is being run by youths who are either still in school or in youth service led by one Kunle Elebute...I can tell y'all, they are doing quite a good job with it.

I.D Cabasa
Well very good for a young man like cabasa bcos it not easy to produce so many artiste and be a producer to so many songs, so for him it is good so that he can start from somewhere and it will also encourage him to do more in the coming years.
