The Nigeria Fashion Week 2008 this September

The 2008 edition of spring summer collection of The Nigeria Fashion Week comes up between 15th - 17th September at the Muson Center. The 3 consecutive days of fashion shows and exhibition/fair will present the collection of over 70 designers from across Nigeria and Abroad.

The event is put together by Legendary Gold Limited in collaboration with The World Fashion Association, Federal Ministries of Culture & Tourism, Information & Communications and The Nigeria Export Promotion Council.

The Nigeria Fashion Week was last year endorsed by The World Fashion Association (WFA) The World Fashion Association is the regulatory body of The World Fashion Idustry. The WFA organizes The World Fashion Week. The endorsement of The Nigeria Fashion Week in 2007 made it an affiliate and partner to The World Fashion Week.

Over 70 local and international designers will show their collection at The Nigeria Fashion Week 2008. 20 outstanding collections from this year’s event will be sent to the international committee of the Holly Wood based World Fashion Association from where 4 designers will be selected to represent Nigeria at The World Fashion Week scheduled for New York in May, 2009.

The Nigeria Fashion Week will feature daily fashion shows, exhibition/Trade Fairs, symposium, lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions between buyers and producers and daily after event parties.

Already, international media who have confirmed coverage of this year’s event includes Fashion TV, from Paris, Video Fashion from New York, Italian Vogue & Cosmopolitan and French Elle.

According to the president of The Nigeria Fashion Week, Lexy Mojo-Eyes, this year’s event will be a great improvement from the last. He was last year appointed into the international committee of The World Fashion Association.
