Page 1 of 2 Candidates waiting for the Lagos arm of the ongoing auditioning of participants in the MTN Project Fame West Africa TV reality show can now heave a sigh of relief as the event comes up Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd August 2008, at Fantasyland Ikoyi, Lagos.
Auditions have already taken place in such West African cities as Monrovia, Liberia, Freetown, Sierra Leone, and such Nigerian cities as Calabar, Kano, Abuja and Enugu. Other cities where auditioning has also been concluded include Benin City, Jos and Accra, Ghana. Speaking recently at the Ultima Studios, the Line producer, Sarah Migwe of Endemol co-producers of the show, stated that the project was meant, not only to bring out the latent musical talents in starlets, but also help them cultivate exceptional performance skills and stage craft. According to her, Project Fame would follow the normal reality TV procedure, except that there would be no private scenes as the academy does not allow contestants to have any sort of intimate affairs. Also speaking, Mr. Adetunji Adebakin of Ultima Limited and co-producer of the show, stated that the candidates would undergo intensive music training and would be exposed to different musical styles, adding that they would operate under disciplined academic schedules. “Our focus is to develop young talents. They would undergo a regimented lifestyle and there would be series of weekly live performances which would test their singing and musical abilities and what they have learnt during that week. Those that fail to measure up would be eliminated from the academy in weekly elimination shows,’ he added. MTN XtraCool Project Fame West Africa, a reality music TV show, is a collaborative effort between MTN; Endemol International and Ultima Limited. The auditions are expected to produce 15 stars with raw music talents who would be accommodated in an academy for 10 weeks. They would be trained by leading music experts on what it takes to become a top rated music icon. They would also be given an opportunity to meet and perform alongside their favourite music idols who would be conducting exclusive master classes while sharing their career experiences with them.
