When it comes to a complete African woman’s Look, the head gear, popularly known as gele in Nigeria, is an important fashion Item that adds a stint of glory to her dress attitude and carriage.
Lots of reasons are responsible for the use of headgears by women folk. Although some women use headties for religious reasons, fashion and beauty accounts for the use of headgear by a relatively large numbers of women in Nigeria, while a handful of ladies use headties as a means to hide unkept and untidy hair. Tying of Gele requires a lot of creative and artistry skill to create a distinct shape and style. This is the reason why most women spend hours struggling with their gele(s) to get a desired shape when preparing to attend an occasion. Thank goodness for the rescue team of gele tiers who are paid to tie headties, and are saving a reasonable number of celeb women from the excruciating pain of struggling endlessly to put up a gele on the head.
