LASG Press Release: Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) Monday received commendations from invited guests and other stakeholders at the second Town Hall Meeting on Security and re-launch of the State's Trust Fund for the enormous achievements recorded by his administration in the last one year.

In his goodwill message at the occasion which took place at the Civic Centre Victoria Island, the Managing Director of First Bank Nigeria Plc, Mr. Jacobs Moyo Ajekigbe, commended the Governor for living up to his promise of rendering account of the Security Fund after one year.

"Last year, he promised that he would render account. To some, it may look a commonplace thing, but to me, it is a big thing because in Nigeria, rendering of account is not commonplace. For this, I commend His Excellency. We assure His Excellency of our support", he said.

Speaking on behalf of the Civil Society Groups, Ms. Yemisi Ransome Kuti congratulated Governor Fashola and the Board of Trustees of the Fund for all they have achieved in terms of security in the State in the last one year.

Ms. Ransome Kuti also canvassed for more physical presence of policemen on patrol on the streets of Lagos.

Also while making his donation to the fund at the occasion, foremost industrialist; Chief Molade Okoya Thomas commended the Governor for the improvements he has brought on the environment of the city including the roads.

Commenting on the roads, Chief Okoya-Thomas said, "Besides Ajose Adeogun, whenever I drive on Ozumba Mbadiwe, I feel proud as a Lagosian. Within a short period, these gentlemen, I mean the Governor and his aides, the Commissioners, the Deputy Governor and others; these gentlemen have brought about so much improvement to our life, because your life has a lot to do with your environment".

"We cannot measure pollution in Lagos, but we have seen that roads are being modernized. When I go to the Bar Beach today, I see a lot of difference. Governor Fashola, I thank you very much. The God who put you there will continue to give you the wisdom. You have said when you leave as Governor, who knows when you will leave. Only God knows", he said, adding that the God who put the Governor in the saddle would at least make him serve for the two terms that the Constitution stipulates.

And turning to the audience, Chief Okoya-Thomas continued, "And I have seen some of you politicians here. Take note, this man must stay for at least two terms.

Promising to compile a list of some wealthy Lagosians to which Governor Fashola should write specially to contribute to the Security Fund, the industrialist said, "Please my dear brother, you are a very knowledgeable gentleman. I want you to please take this as a suggestion".

Others who eulogized the Governor at the event include the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu 1 who commended the Governor for a focused leadership and urged every Lagosian to support the initiative of the Governor by contributing to the Fund and a representative of Mr. Jim Ovia, the Managing Director of Zenith Bank, who also commended the Governor for exemplary leadership and promised that the best of the bank in terms of support to the fund was yet to come.

At the event witnessed by the leadership and representatives of the private sector and which also featured a keynote address by the Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN), the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive of the Fund, Mr Fola Arthur- Worrey gave a detailed account of the receipts and expenditures from the Lagos State Security Fund.
