Edo Election Tribunal Nullifies LG Elections

The Edo State Electional Appeal Tribunal today set aside the election of three Local Government chairmen, all with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to irregularities in their nominations at the Party primaries.

According to the chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Roland Amaize said the nomination and screening of candidates was the exclusive duty of the political parties and not the Edo State Electoral Commission.

The Tribunal as a result ordered the petitioners Emmanuel Agbale and two others be returned as chairmen of Esan, Egor and Ikpoba Local Governments at the expense of Ford Esoimeme, Ehi Egharevba and Osazuwa Ehiorobo.
