Tuesday's episode of the ongoing search for 'The Lost Chronicle' in the Gulder Ultimate Search series revealed a summary of how well the heroes have fared in their quest for glory in Agwu Hills, Enugu.
After taking the audience through the day's task which, as usual, began with a riddle and ended with a more physical activity which had both groups going one after the other to match like fruit-items, covered with a calabash on top of a wood stump together, the show ended at the place of the talking drum where the scores were revealed. The show also seem to be getting trickier when Team B who won the day's task were penalized to forfeit their dinner. Why? They showed undue sympathy to the other team who lost the day's task by forgoing the basket filled with variety of fruits they got for winning the task...lesson learnt...do only what you are asked to do, that is for the heroes. At the place of the talking drum, it was revealed that Abigail and Abiola had garnered nine points each, Fred has eight, Phyna had seven, Mike and JJ have six apiece, Linda has five, Brian has four while Rita had just two points. And for being the bottom two, Rita was made the camp leader while Brian was made the custodian of the Totem, the symbol of the ultimate searchers in their hunt for the lost chronicle. As part of that night's episode, the heroes also started rehearsals on the songs they asked to create for 'entertainment' purposes at the place of the talking drum. In last night's episode, it became clearer to all that someone was itching closer to the exit door from the Agwu Hills and that...that the organisers of the show are not just doling out cash prizes...you have to prove you are worth it. Biola and Rita have been blacklisted for eviction as revealed by Bob-Manuel, the anchor-they have been asked to pack their belongings to one side and...ehm...ehm, wait for further instructions. The day's task, the day's task...something I don't hope to do in any case...was for the two teams to run down the hill one after the other with an empty basket, fill it with palm kernels and run up the hills to cross a narrow bridge (a single log of wood). That's not all, members of the opposing team would be by the bridge side, shouting and hauling sand bag on the other team member to push him/her off the bridge...herculean is the right word for the task. Worst of all, if you manage to skid off the bridge, you return to the starting point to begin the journer over. The team with the bigger heaps of accumulated palm kernels wins. Well, all except Biola and Rita failed in executing the task...in fact, the latter had to get medical attention as a result of her fall during the execution of the task. Others went through the Herculean task successfully but for Rita and Biola. Linda also had a fall but she came out strong to accomplish the task with her palm kernels intact. At the place of the talking drums, the team of heroes evaluated their performances in the day's task before the blacklisting instructions were given out. Though one of Biola and Rita seem to be on their way out of the search, the other heroes have a standing order to make sure they are fed with a very delicious meal to their satisfaction...that would have made some hope they were in Biola and Rita's shoes. As we await the commencement of this night's show, the questions in our hearts are; what is contained in the instruction note handed to Brian which is not supposed to be read until after breakfast this morning and the bigger question...who leaves the Agwu Hills in the GUS V.
